Vegetable home garden has been included as the one of the key action plan in the project operation. From the project supports in terms of capacity building on home gardening technical skills, it has been operating along with the target villages of the Rice Field Fisheries project where water from the rice field fisheries system are available used for vegetable home gardening
Through supporting the technical skills and regular technical assistance on home gardening by home garden technician, Mr. So Soeurt, one of the other target farmers, has been applying the technical skill in producing organic composts, seedling, seed bed making, transplanting and other skills in planting the diversify of vegetables on the CFR banks as well as on his own house land.
“I am so glad and thanks for a great offering on home gardening technical skills from the project which provides my family more income and having safe vegetables for consumption” said, Mr. So Soeurt. He added “Thanks to all CFR committees who offering me a part of land plot on CFR bank for growing these vegetables. “ I am also so happy to help my husband such as watering, transplanting, cleaning weeds and as well as harvesting vegetables for selling. Having this vegetable garden, we can make more income and we have enough safe vegetables for whole year consumption” said, Mrs. Pehn Chanthol, Mr. So Soeurt’s wife. Mr. So Sourt is one of the 22 selected farmers at Boeng Pean Taley CFR located in Vatkandal village, Reangkesey commune, Sangkae district who has been applying the technique for growing vegetables on 225m2 of land plot on CFR banks since May 2018 and earned $244 from vegetables sold as the net income for the first and half way of the second crop plantation cycle. Currently, there are 5 family members included one granddaughter, under 5 years old, living in his family.
